Pet Photography 52 Weeks Project
Theme: "Natural Light"
Each week a group of professional pet photographers band together & challenge themselves to create new images based on a common theme. These images are then shared in each photographers blog (on Fridays). A "blog circle." is formed as each photographer links to another member's blog at the bottom of their post. If you love looking at beautiful pet photographs be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post and click the link to take you to the next very talented photographer. Keep going until you land back here and you will have come full circle!
I took my camera along with me this week to the Indy Winter Classic Dog Show. The event is held at the State Fairgrounds in a huge open pavilion. It is essentially a long rectangular building with high ceilings and warehouse style windows running around all sides of the building. It just so happened the sun was peaking in and out from behind clouds when I was there, making for an interesting mix of artificial and natural light. I attended last year for the first time and fell in love with the light in the bathing area. The position of the sun in the afternoon streams some beautiful directional light into this area of the building. I happened upon some beautiful bathers! The St. Bernard reminded me of scenes from the movie Flash Dance with maybe just a little more drool. And the Corgi was positioned perfectly to catch the sunlight in her eyes.

First a massage!
I also took time to explore other areas of the show from "the benches" to the "show rings". Here are a few more images taking advantage of the available light in the pavilion. Notice the window light streaming in from the sides and back versus the overhead warehouse style lighting.

I really look forward to going again next year. So many interesting things to see at a dog show. You would be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't!) at the number of dog + handler/owner combinations who were look a likes. I would love to do a series on that, only how do you pose that question?!
I hope you enjoyed these images from Indy's little dog show. Please join me again next week for week 8/52!! Now head over to Pet Love Photography, serving Greater Cincinnati and the San Francisco Bay Area for more images using "natural light".
