Theme: "Blank Slate"

This is a blog circle!

If you scroll down to the bottom of this post and click the link, it will take you to the next very talented Pet Photographer. Keep going until you land back here and you will have come full circle!

BLANK SLATE: someone or something that is still in an original state and that has not yet been changed by people, experiences, etc.

  • She viewed her year as a blank slate, just waiting to be filled with .......

While this weeks theme makes perfect sense I have to admit I struggled with what this looks like for me. We have been gifted with a brand new year—with no mistakes in it yet, no heartbreaks and no failures.

2017 was a surprise year for me. Looking back at it now I see only accomplishments (I probably have blinders on). Chosen for a feature story on our local news station that was picked up by a syndicated pet show and ran for 2 weeks to multiple markets. Completed 3 pro bono commercial projects with Indy Humane. Named one of the top100 pet photography bloggers on the internet (thanks to this blog circle, 87/100, I'll take it), improved my photography skills and came closer to creating "my style".  No mistakes, no heartbreaks, no failures come to mind. Retirement + my photography is more than I could have imagined for myself.

My blank slate for 2018 starts with

  • saying YES to opportunities that come my way....especially the ones that scare me.
  • making my work about MY passions
  • pursuing personal goals & projects (Dalmatian maybe)
  • And, I started journaling to capture my thoughts. This is supposed to free up my mind of "clutter" and make room for more creativity 🤓

I kicked off the year with a shelter shoot on the 3rd. Even though it was stupid cold I wanted snow shots, so I bundled up and made it happen! Here is the beautiful Roxana, a 2 year old lovable fawn girl looking for her BLANK SLATE. (I think Galgo but shelter lists as smooth collie, what do you think?).As always, I AM IN LOVE ☺️

Next up in the circle is Nancy Kieffer Photography servicing Syracuse, Adirondacks and beyond.
